Making more of your range

There are a few factors that may affect your car’s range.

These include, model and battery size, what type of road you’re on, the outside temperature, whether you’re using the air-con or not, and what weight you’re carrying.

Some handy tips to maximise your electric range

  • A couple walking beside an ID.7 Tourer that's parked in front of a house

    The right driving mode

Our ID. Range and Plug-in Hybrid cars come with different driving modes, enabling you to enhance performance or conserve energy when appropriate.

  • An ID.3 being driven on a road

    Regenerative braking

Volkswagen electric cars are able to recuperate the kinetic energy created when slowing down and feed it back into the battery to extend range.

  • a couple in a car selecting heating options on infotainment screen

    Pre-heating in cold weather

Range is reduced during cold weather. Pre-heating your car whilst it’s connected to your home charger will mean less drain on your battery, and a more proficient performance once driving
